If we visited a noble or titled friend in London in 1100, we would have to be fluent in French to converse with them - a result of the Norman invasion of 1066.
23 generations ago in England there were 3,250,000 people (1100's A. D.). Only a small percentage of them were nobility. London had a population of 15,000. It was a small town.
